Founder & CEO
Flossie's Mum is actually called 'Harriet' - Harriet trained as an actress and has had a love of marine life since she was born. She has also had the amazing opportunity to scuba dive with many different types of marine life around the world including sharks, manta rays, turtles, octopus, and humpback whales.
Harriet realised once you see pollution you can't unsee it and so with the vision of Flossie a charity was born which Harriet is very proud to run with Flossie by her side always giving fresh ideas!
Volunteering with Flossie and the Beach Cleaners is a wonderful opportunity for me to meet people who are passionate and enthusiastic about nature and especially in helping to keep our oceans clean.
Taking part in beach cleans puts everyone directly in touch with how pollution is harming the marine environment. Every step we take as individuals and as a group can make a difference.
I have always loved being near water whether its the sea, lakes or rivers. I want these marine habitats to have a clean and healthy present and future.
Volunteering for Flossie and The Beach Cleaners has been an extraordinary experience and I am very happy to be part of it from day one of meeting Harriet.
I have always had an interest in the environment, particularly after learning all about the implications of plastic pollution. The threat to marine life and consequently the environment, us and future generations is genuinely concerning. Therefore, I always looked for the opportunity to spread the word about the importance of protecting the world we live in, and that is why I joined Flossie and the Beach Cleaners.
From a personal perspective the chance to volunteer was of great benefit to me and proved to be an excellent way of applying my skills to benefit a great cause whilst at the same time doing something I love. The opportunity to engage with the school volunteers and help pique their interest in both the marine environment and how we can all help protect it is invaluable.
Flossie, Harriet and the team are truly inspiring to those that volunteer with them and show how a small amount of time taken to not just look but actively tackle a global problem like marine plastic, can make a huge impact. The beach cleans not only create a great conversation around what we were collecting, but turn up very unexpected items, like messages in bottles from 40 years ago!
I'm proud to have done my small part to assist Flossie and the beach cleaners and look forward to seeing (and hopefully helping) the positive impact they have on the world.
